Communities
TeleSAFE can support a community's efforts in building a strong sexual assault response.
Our support team is deeply experienced in building strong community partnerships around sexual assault response. We can support communities by:
- Offering TeleSAFE in your local hospital(s)
- Facilitating connections between local stakeholders including hospitals, the district attorney's office, law enforcement, colleges, and local advocacy programs, ensuring survivors receive the wrap-around care they deserve
- Connecting hospitals with established community sexual assault response team (SART) or multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings
- Supporting awareness campaigns within your community
- Providing resources to available trainings
- Offering to present to any local program or coalition about TeleSAFE
Survivors
TeleSAFE expands access to specialized care for survivors across New York State.
At TeleSAFE, we know that when a survivor is offered complete wrap-around care and services, it may be a catalyst and help them begin their healing journey sooner than survivors who do not receive on-going, supportive care.
In the United States, there is a critical shortage of sexual assault forensic examiners (SAFEs). TeleSAFE was created with the vision that survivors anywhere can receive SAFE services at their local emergency department.
With TeleSAFE, from the moment you arrive (and with your consent), our providers support your hospital in delivering trauma-informed, compassionate, person-centered care. You will set the pace of your exam and are in control at all times – you can decline any service at any time, for any reason. Your hospital provider will discuss your options with you at the time of care.
