Diversity and Inclusion

Strength in Diversity

Here at St. Peter's Health Partners, our team is made up of people from different backgrounds, different cultures, different work styles, different values, and different ways of thinking. We invite these differences. We seek them out. We know that our organization and the communities we serve thrive as a result of this commitment to diversity.

Optimal Health for All

The issues women, people of color, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+, religious minorities, and other marginalized groups face are our responsibility to understand and address. Everyone deserves to have an equal opportunity to be as healthy as possible. One of our primary focuses is to create a plan that addresses and removes any and all barriers to optimal health for all.

We are committed to active, intentional, and ongoing engagement with diversity – in our facilities and within the communities we serve. Our goal is to identify and eliminate inequities and injustices that plague all minorities.

Racial and Social Justice

St. Peter’s Health Partners and Trinity Health acknowledge racism as a public health crisis and a root cause of health inequity. We focus our efforts to end systemic racism by addressing the structural and cultural roots of racial inequality. As a faith-based and healing ministry, equity and inclusion are at the very heart of our Mission. This, along with prevention and treatment efforts, ensures we are on the right side of history by doing our part to end systemic racism and achieve health equity for those we serve.

Inclusion and Belonging

By continually educating ourselves and engaging in meaningful conversation, we are taking action. Action leads to change. And change is necessary for us all to advance, together. Our focus must remain on how we can create a culture of inclusion and belonging — for all. We encourage our community to continually seek training and education to ensure we are always doing more to understand the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion for all.

Equitable Practices

Establishing an equitable workplace and delivering equitable health care requires a commitment to fair treatment, career advancement, equal access to health care regardless of age, disability, nationality, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, and/or gender expression.

"Together, We Can Become Our Best Selves."

– A message from Mike Slubowski, Trinity Health President and CEO

We are living in unprecedented times and facing three major challenges—a public health crisis with COVID-19, an economic crisis, and a social justice crisis.

Our Mission, to be a compassionate, transforming, and healing presence in the communities we serve, guides the framework of our diversity, equity, and inclusion strategic plan.

Built upon this foundational Mission, our pillars of focus include diversity in governance, talent, creating a culture of inclusion and belonging, diversifying supply chain and health equity. This approach to our work allowed us to pivot into new targeted initiatives as an immediate response to the COVID-19 global pandemic and tense racial climate in the U.S.

With the support of Trinity Health's board of directors and senior leaders, actions were embedded into the diversity, equity, and inclusion strategic plan creating focus on long-term strategies to address systemic racism and health equity within our organization.

We all have different lived experiences, different customs and traditions, different abilities and talents, but together we can become our best selves by embracing all dimensions of diversity and providing equitable and inclusive care for those we serve.
