Forensic Examiner Services: TeleSAFE

TeleSAFE is a free, on-demand SAFE Program available to hospitals across New York State.

Since 2018, TeleSAFE has expanded access to care for survivors and supported hospitals in meeting the forensic nursing needs of their communities. TeleSAFE leverages remote technology to support a hospital’s medical staff and advocates in providing timely, trauma-informed care to survivors, and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

TeleSAFE complements a hospital’s services as an additional resource available to the hospital. In facilities with no existing Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) Program, TeleSAFE can guide any on-site nurse through the exam process. For hospitals with an existing SAFE program, TeleSAFE can help the hospital achieve round-the-clock SAFE coverage; support and guide newly-trained nurses; or serve as a second opinion for SAFE-certified staff.
