Forensic Examiner Services: SAFECARE NY

Across New York State, child advocacy centers (CACs) provide a child-friendly and supportive environment for young victims of abuse and neglect to receive care.

St. Peter’s Crime Victim Services houses the SAFECARE NY Program (Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner – Child & Adolescent Response/Education), a statewide collaborative to standardize and enhance access to comprehensive yet non-invasive forensic medical care at CACs across New York. Our staff of experienced forensic examiners give each young patient the time and reassurance they need during an exam, creating an environment of comfort and healing.

The regional program serves on multidisciplinary teams alongside other professionals to coordinate care and response for cases of child abuse and neglect, including law enforcement, Child Protective Services, CAC staff, district attorneys, and others. The program is also available for medical support and education for allied professionals.
