In each case, diagnosis and treatment helps patients keep a high level of functioning in the activities of daily living.
At St. Peter's Hospital, board-certified pulmonary and critical-care specialists continuously staff the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where patients receive pulmonary care ranging from mechanical ventilation, inhaled medication and dialysis, to oximetry (oxygen) and cardiac monitoring.
St. Peter's Hospital also boasts a unit dedicated to pulmonary care, providing intermediate care to patients after they leave the ICU, as well as patients with pneumonia, bronchitis, emphysema and other chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD). The latest technology is available in St. Peter's Pulmonary Function Lab.
St. Peter's Hospital also has board-certified pulmonary specialists who consult with on cases throughout the hospital.
With two Pulmonary Function Labs, St. Peter's provides complete testing for inpatients and outpatients suffering from lung-related illnesses. Our Registered Pulmonary Function Technologists are also certified as Asthma Educators; they take a proactive approach to help asthma sufferers learn how to better manage their disease.
