Adrian's Story: From Open-Heart Surgery to Conquering the Erie Canal

Adrian Shoobs of New Lebanon, NY, has been riding a bike and rowing for most of his adult life. He exercised all the time and assumed he was in great shape. That was until he started having chest pain, radiating down his left arm. On Christmas Eve, 2020, that pain landed him in St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY. Adrian ended up undergoing open-heart surgery after doctors discovered a 97% blockage in four of his arteries. Seven months after his surgery, Adrian completed the Erie Canalway Challenge, riding all 360 miles by bike over the course of eight days. He attributes his amazing accomplishment to the excellent care he received at St. Peter's and wanted to share his story of gratitude.
